Serge is the hero (or at least the main character) of Chrono Cross. According to the game booklet, he's the "Silent Protagonist," even though he still seems to talk to fellow characters? Serge is a young man born in a quiet coastal town. When he was a little boy, he was attacked by a panther in the jungle and nearly died. Later, he would almost drown in the ocean and would barely survive... at least on the Home World.

Serge in the Home World: This is the Serge we play as. He nearly died from a panther attack AND from drowning as a little boy, but he's alive and well and living in Arni as a teenager. He seems to be slightly romantically involved with Leena.

Serge in Another World: Serge in this world drowned when he was a little boy and was buried at Echo Peak. Leena in Another World still fondly remembers him and wishes he were still alive.

Kid at first glance is our "female sub-main character." She's a long and lanky thief from a roving band of rouges--but she's got more on her mind than stealing goodies. Kid is hunting down the vile Lynx to get revenge for something the catlike baddie did to her in the past... She runs into Serge in Another World when he's first transplanted there, on the peak where the "other" Serge is buried.

Kidd has weak attacks, but she's quick and has thieving and red elemental skills. Her major skills are: "Pilfer" (learned at 3 stars), "Red Pin" (learned at 15 stars), and "Hot Shot" (learned at 35 stars).

A note about her name: In the Japanese version, her name is often romanized as "Kidd." In the American version, her name is spelled "Kid."

Kidd in the Home World: ??? Not known to exist.

Kidd in Another World: Alive and well and the member of a thieves' guild. She's an orphan.
